Wah Wah 45s at Soundwave Croatia

22 Feb 2012 / 0 Comments / in All news, News, Part-Time Heroes, Scrimshire, Stac/by Adam

YES! We are incredibly excited to announce that this year you will find an extensive Wah Wah attendance at one of the summer’s finest festivals – Soundwave Croatia.

This year, beside the seaside, you will be able to hear Scrimshire playing with his full live band including Faye Houston from Resonators and Stac on vocal duties. Scrimshire will be playing new tracks from his album The Hollow along with live remixes and dub versions made perfectly for the sunny setting. Expect afrobeat, house and soul.

Stac returns to Soundwave this year to play classic tracks from Turn That Light Out alongside plenty of exclusive new songs. Last year when a massive storm set in Stac relocated to the warm and intense indoors of Barbarellas and then performed one of the festival highlights to a packed room. A mesmerising set that captivated a rowdy crowd of festival goers.

With her new EP alongside Royce Wood Jnr out now, a week of exclusive session tracks on Mary-Anne Hobbs’ XFM show out of the way and a new album in the making, expect to be mesmerised once more!

Stac will also be running around and putting on stunning performances with the OneTaste collective including the likes of Eska no less!

Celebrating the release of their 2nd album Lightfalls, the Part-Time Heroes will once again be in attendance. Expect several bouncing, beautiful DJ sessions to keep your weekend in exactly the kind of spirits it should be.

Our very own DJ legend Dom Servini himself will also be on board this year to grace the Soundwave decks with his own unique brand of afro funk, soul, beats and boogie and party classics – not to be missed.

And Scrimshire will also be playing a record or two…

And that is not all!

On the Friday Evening Wah Wah 45s will be hosting a KILLER boat party to really heat up your weekend!

Live music, beach bar DJ sets, a boat party, all in classic Wah Wah style! How big is THAT?!

Get tickets for Soundwave Croatia at their website right now, and follow Soundwave on facebook here too.

Stac remix competition runners up – available for download

06 Apr 2011 / 0 Comments / in All news, News, Stac/by Adam

Our first ever remix competition proved to be quite a success. We had to choose 2 winners in the end, the quality was excellent.

But there were two remixes that deserved special attention. They are unique, inspired flips of the original track (Balls Bounce) and from two production outfits that were entirely new to us.

So we thought we would share them with you. Download this little two track release today – just hit the links below.

And don’t forget, Vol. Two of the remixes is out soon featuring mixes from Hint, Herma Puma, Yult, Blue Daisy, Kid Kanevil and lots more. Get on our mailing list to keep up with all this!

Mr Blue Movies

Mr Blue Movies is a dj/producer/instrumentalist from South London. Having learned to play the piano at an early age, and being brought up on a strict diet of Jazz and Jefferson Airplane, his influences have increased over the years to include music from all around the world. He maintains his love of mid 90′s Hip Hop, Funk 45′s and absolutely anything that James Brown went near….

He has featured as a Keys player on the Healer Selecta album “Lets Get It Started”, done remix work for Jettricks, and has released under the pseudonym “Joint Effort” with London Rapper Oliver Sudden.

He runs a monthly night, “Soul Food”, at London’s Marketplace.

Bob Gnarley & The Mailer

Bob Gnarley & The Mailer are Dj Vytol and Dj Maxwell. They have been djing different genres on the same circuit since 1999. Both Birmingham based artists they both scored their 1st residency in 2000 at the same bar – The Blueprint on Corporation Street, Birmingham; which is where their friendship began.

Over the years Vytol and Maxwell have played alongside some of the biggest names in their fields; from Andy Smith to Andy C, Gilles Peterson to Bryan Gee, Dom Sevini to Dillinja and Lemon D. Continually crossing paths on the DJ circuit and a mutual love for left field music it was a natural progression for them to put their heads together on some tracks as Vytol had been dabbling in production since 2002, and in 2008 it finally happened.

With a passion for music and an unwillingness to conform; in 2011 Bob Gnarly & The Mailer was born.

Stac remix competition winners!

01 Mar 2011 / 0 Comments / in All news, News, Stac/by Adam

So we are extremely excited to announce the winners of our first remix competition at Wah Wah 45s!

We selected two amazing remixes from the massive variety we received to our Soundcloud dropbox and they are:

Stac – Balls Bounce [Ambassadeurs Remix] by Ambassadeurs

Stac – More (Quirx Remix) by quirx

It was not an easy job. No set tempo and those intricate but sometimes confusing rhythms of Stac’s left a few entrants confused but there were also many beautiful versions.

Thank you to everyone who put the time in to produce a remix for this competition. Quirx and Ambassadeurs will both be appearing on the forthcoming Stac – Turn That Light Out, The Remixes Vol. Two, to be released in April and will get airplay on Dom Servini’s Colourful Radio Show and the Wah Wah Radio Show (we might even drop in some runners up – so keep listening).

Volume One of the Remixes can be listened to right here and keep your eye on here for more details about other Stac releases – including a KILLER Ashley Beedle remix!

In the next week or two we’ll round up some of the runners up for you too – so check back.
