Product Description

Having gained an army of loyal supporters and radio play from DJs as diverse as Huey Morgan, Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles over the last 18 months, brass juggernaut Hackney Colliery Band deliver the first taste of what to expect from their second album for Wah Wah 45s, due for release in early 2013.

HCB’s homage to rave pioneers The Prodigy has already become a hugely popular part of their live show, and is now set to destroy dance floors with a rollercoaster ride that takes in some of Keith and co’s finest works including the furious death jazz take of “Jericho”, the dubwise “Out Of Space” and club anthem “No Good”, all given that HCB twist.

The flipside is another original from the band with drummer Olly Blackman penning an afro-beat flavoured monster for the more discerning music lover that hints at more of what’s to come from the band’s second long-player.

Reactions:

“Like Marmite, you either love it or hate it, and I LOVE it! That’s how to do a medley matey!” Craig Charles, BBC 6Music (UK)

“Great track. I actually ended the show with ‘Owl Sanctuary’ as well. Just keep the hits coming!” John Kennedy, XFM (UK)

“I love these guys!” Huey Morgan, BBC 6Music (UK)

“Feel strange after listening to this one? Not know what way to turn? But somehow feeling totally engrossed with the horn blasts? What year is it? Are we in a very dark, very sweaty, disused empty airline carrier? Please remove that glow stick from in front of my face madam!

Stop right there! It’s 2012 and it’s only HCB’s latest offering. A sensational adrenalin-fuelled tribute to the jilted generation if you will. Expertly done fellas!” Baz Hickey (Funk 45s, Dublin)
“Thanks for this amazing promo !!! I like the spirit of this furious jazz project.” Azaxx, Tru Thoughts (France)
“HCB has not failed me yet! more fire and originality. Full support starting this next show. You guys are putting out some great product lately!” Jason Pulaski, Ubiquity Records / KUCI (USA)
