Danish instrumental sextet Sunbörn—winners of four Danish Grammys—join forces with acclaimed Italian producer/DJ Clap! Clap! (Paul Simon, Warp) for a boundary-blurring new album: Earth Is Begging. Releasing in autumn 2025 on Wah Wah 45s, the project is a vibrant celebration of global culture and sonic fusion.
Following on from the exuberant debut single, Acarajé do Salmão, and the vibrant second single, Vuvuzela Dourada, which both received huge support on BBC 6 Music from the likes of Cerys Matthews, Craig Charles, Zakia Sewell and Robbie Vincent, the third and final single to be taken from the album is the foot friendly Jolloff on the Roll Off. It’s a track that draws from West African rhythmic traditions, built on interlocking percussion patterns that create both propulsion and space. The groove is central — deep, layered, and designed for movement. It’s music meant to be felt in the body as much as heard, carrying the heat of a crowded club or an outdoor party at full tilt.
The brass shifts between bold, Afrobeat-inspired hits and softer, jazz-influenced textures, creating contrast and lift. There’s a looseness to the structure — a kind of circular logic — where instruments interact freely, without strict hierarchy. It’s celebratory and open-ended: a track made for dancing, sweating, and staying in the rhythm just a little longer than expected.
Blending Afrobeat, Middle Eastern textures, jazz harmonies, and electronic dance music, Sunbörn Meets Clap! Clap! weaves a high-energy soundscape of hypnotic grooves and soaring melodies. Their music explores the idea of a cultural melting pot—where traditions meet future sounds, and rhythm transcends borders.
Guest artists on the forthcoming album include Dele Sosimi (UK/NG), Carolina Lelis (BR), and Etuk Ubong (NG). A European live tour featuring the full collaborative setup is set for spring 2026.
