Wah Wah 45s see out 2025 with a whopping thirty track compilation, showcasing some of the finest remixes and reworks that have been released on the label in recent years, as well as a dozen brand new, never before heard cuts!

Wah Wah 45s Remixed 3 is the first remix compilation on the label in seven years, following on from 2017’s debut collection of reworks and its follow up a year later. That’s a long time in the life of a record label, and in that period the imprint released a number of (sometimes a little slept on) remixes from the producers, DJs and musicians that included broken beat dons Daz-I-Kue, Jamz Supernova, EVM128 and WheelUP; masters of disco-house music Dam Swindle, Ashley Beedle, Session Victim, Aroop Roy, Village Cuts, The Reflex, Ben Gomori and sometime artist on the label Medlar; leftfield technicians Sarathy Korwar, Dutchie and Blood, Wine Or Honey; funky breaks specialists Sam Redmore and our very own Gene Dudley; and even a little drum & bass courtesy of erstwhile indie star Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly!Remixes from all of these incredible producers can be found across this essential collection, and they’re joined by twelve more, hugely exciting previously unreleased reworks from a dozen of our favourite international selectors, beat makers, and recording artists. Opening things up, French bruk and future jazz producer Quiet Dawn re-invents Jamie Finlay’s sublime Family for the more discerning dance floor, while another broken beat aficionado, London based Anglo-Turkish producer Cengiz takes Sunbörn & Clap! Clap!’s Vuvuzela Dourada, featuring the rasping vocals of Brazilian Carolina Lelis (Da Lata), to bass worrying places indeed! As we delve in, Japanese duo Dazzle Drums give Dele Sosimi & The Estuary 21’s E Si M’èdò a foot friendly, percussive re-rub, and Berlin based disco-house fiend Delfonic delivers a typically uplifting take on Land Of Echo’s What We Want featuring the glorious Kathy Diamond. Elsewhere, our main man Medlar transforms Lawne’s Huge Balloon into a furiously funky acid workout, and seasoned German producer and pianist Eren Solak, AKA Sevdavision, reworks IKE’s Rapids, featuring Danny Kuttner, into an understated sonorous dance floor bubbler. One of our favourites, Brighton based French producer, musician and DJ Laroye brings Kotoa’s gorgeous I Am to the club with a forward thinking Afrobeat flavour, and the mysterious BORDA delivers an irresistible Space Funk mix for Sunbörn & Clap! Clap!’s Jolloff On The Roll Off. As we get deeper into the compilation, rising UK electronica producer Echo Juliet comes through with a high octane yet centred re-imagining of Lawne’s Beta Pan, and label mates Bev Lee Harling and Hardkandy come together, with the latter providing a very tasteful late night re-version of the former’s Tears On Your Heart. Sticking with label mates, Raz Olsher’s disco influenced Bassically alter-ego gets busy with music partner Alfa Sackey’s highlife monster Mofeemo Ke Eno, and finally downtempo electronica wizard, Frankson, takes Bev Lee Harling’s Dirty Dragon Fly somewhere quite stunning and ethereal.

“The beats are a plenty on this new beauty.” Aja Allsop (Ketch-A-Vibe, UK)

“That’s five now and stacking up very nicely. On first listen I thought there was a Raz&Afla influence to the Vuvuzela Dourada remix, there are certainly some familiar sounds in there. There are some constants in life, one of which is that you can always trust a Medlar remix so, with fired-up sounds as the source what could possibly go wrong? Loving the wobbly cumbiapsych-style keyboard break after the first drop. Finally, wonderful Kotoa getting the Laroye treatment on a smooth, well-oiled afrobeat workout where Kotoa touch Kokoroko. Fab. All 5*, all destined for the dancefloor. 2½-hour WahWah45s dance party anyone?”” Drummie Dave (Various, York, UK)

“”The new ‘Wah Wah 45s Remixed 3’ is the first remix compilation on the label in seven years and what an impressive choice ‘leader’ Dom Servini has made from the wealth of producers, DJs and musicians that have worked with over the years.

From the most recent Sunbörn Meets Clap! Clap! project (with ‘Vuvuzela Dourada’ on the Cengiz remix) to Jamie Finlay with the album opener, the Quiet Dawn remix of ‘Family’ (originally on the album ‘Sun Dogs’ – see review HERE).

Of course you can’t miss out Dele Sosimi who seems busier than ever with gigs in Bristol and London’s Fox & Firkin early in the new year. The album ‘The Confluence’ (see review HERE) with The Estuary 21 didn’t need any remix, but Dazzle Drums are more than up to the task on ‘E Si Mè dò’ (and if they’re listening, Dom, Chris Long and me are still awaiting the FB3 Dazzle Drums Remix – please). And so influencial Dele is, you’ll the project with Medlar (see review HERE) and there’s the Dele Sosimi x Medlar ‘Full Moon’ Dam Swindle remix and then Medlar’s own remix of their ‘All About The Dance’ and Daz-I-Kue on ‘Gudu Gudu Kan’.

And there’s a heavy Afrobeat heritage presence with Raz & Alfa Sackey, Isaac Birturo & The Rail Abandon, Eparapo (with a WheelUP remix – check out his new album, ‘Inner Light, see review HERE) plus the Sam Remore remix of ‘Black Lives Matter’; Brum’s finest Redmore having had Dele Sosimi guesting on his track ‘Home’ (see review HERE).

The label, like Dom’s DJ sets and radio shows, are always varied, fun and quality and that’s what’s the feature of this collection, especially as long term artists like the always impressive Soothsayers (‘Natural Mustic’ Sarathy Korwar remix), Bev Lee Harling (Aroop Roy remix HERE and Hardkandy HERE) to the ‘historic’ TALC, The Reflex Revision of ‘De Gui Ding’ (see review HERE) and you’ll know Afrikanz On Marz as Ashley Beedle who we understand will be recuperating from home soon with his F*CLR/Ramrock musical family and another of Dom’s old mates, Espen Horne’s ‘Bergen Sunray’s being remixed by Session Victim (see review HERE).

Even then, names that perhaps are not so familiar stand out, like Land Of Echos’, ‘What We Want’ (remixed by disco guru Delfonic – fresh from his Roy Ayers 12”, see review HERE) as they’ve “got it”.

With all these tracks and seven years of remixes to pick from this is a collection that you’ll be more than happy to say that you’ve got it!” Gerry Hectic (You And The Music, UK)
